Lohri is a festival originally dedicated to Agni (fire) which according to ancient stories is associated with Lord Indra. The agni god especially loves each person in a form. He goes on everyone’s stove, whether he is rich or poor. There is a very close relationship between the fire gods and mankind. Lohri’s focus is on bonfires. Offering of sesame, gajak, jaggery, peanuts, popcorn is considered a prayer to Lord Indra. On the day of Lohri, whoever dedicates these things to the fire, each wish is fulfilled, moving in the evening with traditional songs and poems of Lohri along with Bhangra and Gidda. This festival is also made as the arrival of spring.
Astrologically, Lohri day is considered to be the holiest day to reduce the impact of planets. Lohri marks the Sun’s entry into Capricorn on 14 January and continues until 14 July. This process is known as Uttarayan.
Astrological remedy
Couples wishing to have a child’s happiness should circle around the fire 41 times. They should recite the mantra, Om Devakisut Govind Vasudeva, Jagatapate Dehi Tani, Karishna Tavam Sharanagatam every time after completing the rounds.
Manglik dosha is considered a hindrance in marriage. It also brings misery and misunderstanding in domestic life. On the day of Lahori, if the person takes 21 rounds around the bonfire and every time chanting this mantra, Om Ang Angarakaya Namah.
